About

My research work deals with ancient Egyptian Astronomy (or Astro-Egyptology). It began by the year 1995, then was promoted through the Culture Diff' company I founded in 2000, next gave rise to a doctoral thesis I defended in 2008 and which was rewarded by a Price of the Academy of Sciences, Inscriptions et Belles Lettres de Toulouse, France. Since that time, I work as a Research Associate at the Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Toulouse-Tarbes which recently became the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie (IRAP).

Within this context, I am in close contact with researchers in Earth and Planetary Science, with space engineers as well, who both participate in the implementation of space missions, in the conceiving of mechanical, optical and electronics components of satellites, or collect then process next analyze satellite data (signals and images). As a consequence, the idea of contributing to the development of the space branch of Archaeology naturally came to my mind. In a few words, this amounts to detecting, using satellite imagery with specific spatial and spectral resolutions, the possible existence of archaeological remains (roads, irrigation canals, cities, monuments, habitat, etc.) which can not be seen with the naked eye from the Earth surface because they lay under a lush vegetation, under modern cities or below the Earth surface (a few meters deep).

Like the ArchaeoAstronomy project, the Space Archaeology project is managed by the Culture Diff' company (www.culturediff.org) (*). So, if you are interested in the one or the other project, feel free to contact me by mail or phone, to subscribe to the Culture Diff' mailing list or to follow the Culture Diff' Tweets (@culturediff).

(*) The Culture Diff' company mainly aims at disseminating the scientific knowledge and at promoting the results of fundamental research with various publics (researchers, amateurs, general public) in the form of scientific articles, press articles, websites, conferences, videoclips, planetarium shows, etc.
